Coming February 2026
After her fourth novel, CHICK SINGER, was published (Sibylline Press, 2025), award-winning author and singer/songwriter, Lorraine Devon Wilke, decided it would be a refreshing pivot to pull together some of her favorite short stories, select essays, and an assemblage of lyrics (with accessible links to their recorded tracks) to create an eclectic compilation that will hopefully intrigue, provoke, move, and entertain readers (and listeners!).
Included are award-winning essays and short stories, sharp commentary pieces and personal family memoirs. There’s Roland Caine, a man lost in retirement whose life is forever changed by a visiting peahen. Prudie Kayfall, a clumsy recent widow struggling to find purpose in her life. A gaggle of feisty grade-schoolers on a mission to heist a teacher’s weapon of destruction. The gut-punching ripples of a shattering hit and run. Essays shine light on caring for an aging mother, navigating family politics with a grandmother’s guidance; the value of creating legacy, and our cultural obsession with youth at all costs.
Lyric entries include background anecdotes behind some of her most popular original songs (all accessible via the provided links); many entries include her photographs; all are imbued with her unique view of the world in which we live.
Will be available in print and ebook.
